Paint Correction in Cypress, TX

Machine compounding and polishing that removes defects instead of hiding them

Overview

Paint Correction at Glowtek Auto Care

Compounding and polishing are both ways of correcting defects in a vehicle's paint, and they remove different amounts of the surface layer. Compound is applied with a machine polisher to cut out heavier defects. Polish then follows to refine what is left and bring the gloss back up.

Most of the swirl marks we see in Cypress come from automatic car washes and dirty wash mitts. Correction removes a controlled amount of clear coat to level the surface, which is why it is done deliberately and why we inspect the paint before quoting a stage.

Why it matters

What You Get Out of It

Removes defects, does not mask them

Glazes and fillers hide swirls until the next wash. Correction levels the clear coat so the defect is actually gone.

Restores depth and reflection

Corrected paint reads darker and wetter because light reflects evenly instead of scattering off swirl marks.

The right base for coating

A ceramic coating locks in whatever is underneath. Correcting first is what makes a coated car look genuinely good.

Undoes car wash damage

Tunnel wash brushes leave fine circular scratches across every panel. Correction is what takes them out.

Our process

How We Approach Paint Correction

Assessment

We inspect the paint under lighting, check what the finish can safely take, and recommend a stage honestly.

Decontamination

Iron removal and clay bar first, so nothing bonded to the paint gets dragged across it by a polishing pad.

Correction passes

Compounding cuts the defects, then a refining polish restores clarity and gloss to the corrected surface.

Protect the work

We finish with wax, sealant or a ceramic coating so the corrected paint stays that way.

Questions

Paint Correction FAQs

What is the difference between one stage and multi-stage?

A single stage is one polishing pass that improves gloss and takes out lighter marks. Multi-stage adds a dedicated compounding step first for heavier swirls and scratches. We recommend a stage after looking at your paint, not before.

Will correction remove every scratch?

No. If a scratch catches your fingernail it has usually gone through the clear coat, and removing it safely is not possible. We will tell you plainly which defects will come out and which will not.

How long does paint correction last?

The correction itself is permanent, since the defect has been removed. How long the finish stays that way depends on how the car is washed afterward and whether it is protected.

Should I add a ceramic coating after?

It is the natural pairing. Correction gets the paint right, and coating protects that result so you are not back for correction in a year.
